The Canadian Museum of Flight is more than just a museum—it’s an active and vibrant part of the community. Through educational partnerships, school tours, and special events, the museum plays a key role in promoting local tourism and aviation education. Our outreach programs have been operating for several years, offering engaging ways for students to learn history and science in a real-world setting.

The Canadian Museum of Flight works in partnership with social service and volunteer agencies to support multi-barriered individuals, including those facing financial hardship, mental health challenges, or social isolation. Through transitional job training, inclusive volunteer opportunities, and our involvement with the New Horizons for Seniors Program, we offer meaningful ways for people to connect, learn, and grow regardless of their circumstance. Our volunteer team—ranging in age from 12 to 89—reflects our commitment to intergenerational mentorship and building bridges between communities. We are also proud to be a welcoming, inclusive space that celebrates diversity and supports members of the LGBTQ+ community and new Canadians. In fact, we have numerous members of our team that represent these groups.

The museum also acts as a valuable training ground for a variety of skill sets, from office management to mechanical restoration, contributing to workforce development in the region. Our strong community relationships not only bring vital operational funding, but also ensure the museum remains a welcoming and dynamic space for generations to come.
Royal Canadian Air Cadet Squadron
We are proud to partner with 746 Lightning Hawk Squadron of the Royal Canadian Air Cadets, who are based right here at Langley Regional Airport. This partnership enriches our community connection and supports youth development in aviation and leadership.
The Squadron offers an immersive program for youth aged 12–18, focusing on aviation, leadership, teamwork, physical fitness, survival training, and citizenship. Their activities align closely with our mission and bring fresh energy and enthusiasm to the museum space.

The Air Cadet Program is structured around three aims:
- To Develop in youth the attributes of good citizenship and leadership.
- To promote physical fitness.
- To stimulate an interest in the air element of the Canadian Forces.
The motto of the Air Cadet Program is:
“To Learn, To Serve, To Advance”
