The Canadian Museum of Flight, as part of the Township of Langley, is located on the unceded, occupied, ancestral, traditional homelands of the Katzie, Matsqui, Kwantlen and Semiahmoo First Nations. $20.00 per hour plus 4% in lieu of benefits

The Organization
The Canadian Museum of Flight is a non-profit, volunteer-driven museum dedicated to restoring, preserving and showcasing Canada’s rich aviation heritage. The Museum is located in the heart of the Township of Langley, adjacent to the Langley Regional Airport. The CMF is dedicated to the collection, preservation and maintenance of aircraft and other artifacts of significance to aviation history. As a historical and educational institution, the Canadian Museum of Flight provides education and entertainment to the general public, as well as preserving our history for future generations. The Canadian Museum of Flight encourages an awareness and appreciation of our unique aviation history, for residents of British Columbia as well as visitors from all over the world.
Responsibilities:
- create two travelling teaching trunks
- conduct tours and deliver programs to school groups, summer camps and the general public
- help plan, organize, implement and evaluate CMF special events
- perform front desk and retail services duties
- supervise junior volunteers
- be responsible for opening and closing the museum daily
- assist with Curatorial, Collections, Conservation and Exhibit Display tasks and activities
- perform building maintenance activities weekly

Program Description
The Museum Assistant Position at the Canadian Museum of Flight is part of the Young Canada Works(YCW) employment program, which is subsidized by the Government of Canada and administered by the Canadian Museum Association. This program creates meaningful career development opportunities in the heritage sector. This position is being offered pursuant to a federally funded employment program. Funding for the position is conditional on applicants meeting the following criteria:
- Currently a Canadian citizen, permanent resident or with refugee status in Canada, legally entitled to work in Canada. You must be registered with the Young Canada Works inventory at www.youngcanadaworks.ca
- To be eligible for this program students must also be registered in either High School, College, University or CGEP and be between the ages of 16-30.
