As the only aviation museum in the Lower Mainland, the Canadian Museum of Flight is home to an extraordinary and ever-growing collection of more than 25 aircraft, spanning over a century of aviation history. From the early wood-and-fabric designs of World War I to Cold War-era jets and everything in between, our exhibits are as educational as they are inspiring. Each aircraft represents a unique chapter in aviation’s storied past and highlights the technological innovations that have shaped the industry over time.

Among the crown jewels of our collection is the beautifully restored Waco AQC-6 bush plane (pictured above), famously flown by Dr. Jack Pickup to deliver life-saving medical services along BC’s rugged coastline. Visitors can also explore the Avro CF-100 Canuck, a rare Canadian-built jet interceptor, and the ever-popular Sopwith Camel replica, which travels across the region for static displays at special events. Other notable aircraft include the de Havilland Tiger Moth, the T-33 Silver Star, and a Harvard trainer, all of which represent significant milestones in the evolution of pilot training in the Royal Canadian Air Force. These aircraft, along with others in our fleet, offer a glimpse into the innovations that have shaped both Canadian and global aviation history.
A Flying Museum

True to our commitment to aviation history, the Canadian Museum of Flight is also a flying museum. Our fleet of vintage and replica aircraft is regularly showcased at airshows, flypasts, and other aviation events, providing visitors with a rare opportunity to see aviation history come to life in the skies. These flying exhibitions are not only exciting but serve as living demonstrations of the capabilities and craftsmanship that defined each era of aviation. The aircraft in our collection are meticulously maintained to ensure their continued flight, providing a dynamic and engaging experience for aviation enthusiasts and the general public alike.
Extensive Archives and Unique Collections
In addition to our incredible collection of aircraft, the museum houses an extensive archive that serves as a vital resource for researchers, historians, and aviation enthusiasts. Our archives contain a vast array of aviation engines, tools, and artifacts that offer deep insight into the technological advancements that have shaped aviation history. Among these treasures are vintage pilot helmets, aviation maps, technical manuals, and rare instruments used in flight operations, each item telling a unique story about the challenges and triumphs faced by aviators.

One of the standout features of our museum is our vintage uniform collection, which includes authentic flight suits, uniforms, and accessories from various periods in aviation history. These garments, worn by aviators from different military and civilian sectors, provide an intimate glimpse into the lives of those who have flown these incredible machines. The collection includes uniforms from the Royal Canadian Air Force, the Canadian Armed Forces, and early civilian aviators, giving visitors a chance to experience the evolution of aviation fashion and functionality.

A Treasure Trove for Research and Enthusiasts
Our library is another invaluable resource for those looking to delve deeper into aviation history. Filled with rare books, periodicals, photographs, manuals, and artwork, the library offers an extensive selection of primary and secondary sources for research and study. Visitors can explore books detailing the history of specific aircraft, pilot biographies, technical manuals, and much more, all contributing to a rich understanding of the aviation world. The library also includes historical records from key Canadian aviation milestones, offering context for those studying Canada’s aviation pioneers and their contributions.

Building a Legacy
The Canadian Museum of Flight is not just a museum—it’s a living archive where every artifact, uniform, and aircraft plays an important part in preserving the legacy of aviation history. As we continue to expand and evolve our collection, we remain committed to creating a dynamic, educational environment where visitors can engage with the past while looking forward to the future of aviation.
